Aristotle: A true friend is one soul in two bodies.

I always think that a true friend is someone who clings to us through thick and thin, and someone we can trust about anything and everything.

But these days, the meaning of friendship is somewhat diminished because we call both neighbors, colleagues and acquaintances a "friend" (don't get me wrong, but some of these people can be true friends, but that often does not happen).

It is true that it is wonderful to be open enough to describe anyone in our life as a friend, but our ignorance of what a true friend is and what it means to be a true friend contributes to generating a great sense of isolation and loneliness in our lives.

Fortunately, I have found some real soul friends in my private life who have taught me a lot about the meaning of unconditional love.

This is what I learned:

1. You can talk to him about anything.

There is no need to hide any subject or be careful when speaking with a soulmate. Although he may have opposite opinions, you can talk to him freely and openly.

2. His criticism is constructive, not destructive.

A soulmate wants to help you grow and build yourself instead of pulling you down. For this reason, the soulmate is transparent and quick to criticize, and does not resort to negative aggression or otherwise.

He trusts enough friendship to know that your criticism will not spoil your relationship.

3. You really feel heard and understood when there is a soulmate.

Soul Friends open themselves to listening right, in order to understand your thoughts, feelings, dreams, or problems.

There will always be a balance in speaking and listening while communicating with soul friends, in other words, you will both speak and listen.

4. You can totally trust him.

When you trust a friend of the soul with something very sensitive or personal, he respects your privacy and respects the trust you placed in it. He does not use your secrets against you and does not betray your trust by allowing your secrets to leak.

5. Respects whatever you want.

Your soulmate respects your need for isolation and personal space and does not take it allergically.

6. He cannot tolerate and does not hold grudges.

A soulmate realizes that no one is perfect (including himself) and therefore prefers not to stick to bitterness and resentment. If he feels angry or hurt, he prefers to talk about it directly and openly rather than hide it.

Although he will forgive you for your shortcomings, only to know how to end the order when you abuse him repeatedly.

7. See the best in you.

One of the most precious gifts a friend of the soul offers in friendship is unwavering kindness and goodwill.

Although you feel bad about yourself, your friend will remind you of your beauty, and it will remind you of many of the skills that characterize her. This way, it supports you when you feel weak.

8. With you in good and bad times.

A true soulmate will be with you during the darkest nights and the brightest days. As a loyal and compassionate companion, he is on your side when you are at your worst, offering you a hand, help and support to lean on.

Also, when you are at your best and are overwhelmed with happiness and success, you will find it encouraging you and sharing your happiness as if it is about him.
